Natural Educators support and promote the use of mindfulness interventions to help children and educators connect with each other, with their own learning, and with their environments. In addition, we dig into the research behind the principles and values of nature-based learning and regular movement throughout the school day.
We may see, feel and experience the positive effects of time in nature, or the benefits of play and imagination, and we may read about the power of movement and physical activity in education, but the world today relies on - if not requires - quantifiable evidence before systemic action takes place. The Ne team studies evidence-based research that can help promote the need for mindfulness, movement, and project based learning in any school setting. |
As Natural Educators, we support the brain-body learning connection through teaching in a sensory-rich, natural setting. When children are able to perceive and acknowledge and mindfully recognize the benefits of physical activity paired with calming strategies and nature-based learning, then their emotional health begins to strengthen and grow. Physiological wellness is not separate from cognitive and emotional wellness - where one receives the benefits, the others naturally experience the positive effects, too. And, this type of learning supports Sustainable Growth - this mindfulness (self-monitoring and self-regulation) supports lifelong growth, transcending across age and setting.
Because once you understand how your body and mind respond to the world around you, you have tapped into a place that allows for optimal learning, growth, and healing - not just for students but for educators, too. Neuro-imaging technologies in the late 1990's provided new, deeper understandings of how the brain and body work in tandem during learning experiences. As Natural Educators, we support the brain-body learning connection through teaching in a sensory-rich, natural setting. |
