Hello, my name is Jen LeCompte and I am a co-founder of Natural Educators with my husband Logan. I earned my Bachelors of Science degree in Structural Engineering from the University of California, San Diego and upon graduation, I began work as a structural engineer at a firm in Santa Monica, California. I worked alongside engineers and architects to aide in designing custom homes from the framing all the way down to the foundation. While I was there, some of the clients we had included Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise and Adam Corolla. However after about a year, I decided to become a change agent for the youth of today advocating for math and engineering. I earned my Masters degree from USC in Secondary Mathematics Education and I began my journey as a teacher.

In my first three years teaching, I helped start up Da Vinci Charter Schools, a brand new project-based charter high school in Hawthorne, California.  As one of the founding teachers, I was able to help create the curriculum and pave the pathway for many of the math and engineering classes. The next five years, I decided to join a more traditional all-inclusive high school in El Segundo, California. There I became a leading teacher for the robotics club, engineering and math department. In addition, I was part of the professional development team that helped teachers implement the 1-to-1 iPad program as well as guided new and veteran teachers with the Common Core transition.

I was offered and accepted a math teacher position with the Treasure Valley Math and Science Center (TVMSC), a unique school in the Boise School District created for students who are gifted in math and sciences. I was lucky to be able to work with elementary and junior high students who were ready to take on high school and college level math.

When we welcomed our baby boy (Lake) into the world,
I decided to take a leave of absence from traditional teaching. It has been great to spend more time with my little one. On my spare time, I can still create meaningful relationships with students as a Natural Educator.
